 Sempre penso na razão pela qual o Cadete Jones se posicionou exatamente entre dois brasileiros,  Cadetes Ernest Hofer e Samuel Eliasen... já sentia interesse pelo Brasil?

I always think about the reason why Cadet Jones positioned himself exactly between two Brazilians, Cadetes Ernest Hofer and Samuel Eliasen .. did he already have an interest in Brazil?

O Coronel Jones - e sua família - sempre será lembrado como o pioneiro do trabalho salvacionista no nordeste do Brasil, que tantos frutos têm dado!

Colonel Jones - and his family - will always be remembered as the pioneer of salvationist work in northeastern Brazil, which has resulted so much fruit!

Em 1999, meu último ano no Brasil antes de vir para a Finlândia, ele, como Chefe Nacional,  convidou-me para fazer parte do grupo que iria representar o Exército na visita do Arcebispo de Cantuária, George Carey no culto da Igreja Anglicana de São Paulo.  Talvez por eu ter sido anglicano-episcopal, ou talvez porque eu falava inglês?

In 1999, my last year in Brazil before coming to Finland, he, as the Territorial Commander, invited me to be part of the group that would represent the Army on the visit of Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey in the worship of the Anglican Church of São Paulo. Maybe because I was an Anglican-Episcopal before entering th SA, or maybe because I spoke English?

O importante é que nunca me esqueci da ilustracão que o Arcebispo deu em seu sermão.

"Um reverendo estava muito preocupado com o número de mortes em sua congregacão. Certa vez, visitando uma senhora idosa e muito doente, ela percebeu a preocupacão do reverendo e falou-lhe: `Não fique assim, reverendo, eu estou só morrendo!´"

The important thing is that I never forgot the illustration that the Archbishop gave in his sermon.

"A Reverend was very concerned about the number of deaths in his congregation. Once, visiting an elderly and very sick woman, she realized the Reverend's concern and said to him: 'Don't be like that, Reverend, I am just dying! ´ "

Como editor do nosso jornal por duas vezes, acompanhei por muitos anos seu trabalho, até que foi nomeado Chefe Nacional e fui transferido para a Finlândia, gracas a ele que nos deu o sinal verde!

As editor of our newspaper twice, I followed his work for many years, until he was appointed National Chief, and I was transferred to Finland, thanks to him who gave us the green sight!

Em 1999, liderados pelo Comissário Carl Eliasen, foi publicado o novo Cancioneiro... o Coronel John Jones muito colaborou com seu talento musical e bom tradutor de cânticos.

In 1999, led by Commissioner Carl Eliasen, the new Cancioneiro was published ... Colonel John Jones was very cooperative with his musical talent and good translator of hymns.

 

Na Finlândia, recebi uma cópia com sua bonita assinatura (era um excelente desenhista!)

In Finland, I received a copy with his beautiful signature (he was an excellent drawer)

"Há um rio cristalino na divina habitacão, sai do trono do Cordeiro para o gozo do cristão.

Sim, a ele nós iremos, a Cristo nosso Redentor veremos, Desse rio sempre beberemos ao lado do bom Salvador!"
