Comissário CARL SEVERIN ELIASEN nasceu no Rio de Janeiro, filho de missionários dinamarqueses que vieram para o Brasil no final dos anos 20. Fez o Colégio de Cadetes na Inglaterra, onde conheceu Maria Aparecida Santos (Mary), que veio a tornar-se sua esposa. Foi chefe territorial no Brasil, Chile e Secretário para as Américas e Caribe no IHQ em Londres. Carl S. Eliasen foi pioneiro do trabalho em Portugal e na sua gestão como chefe nacional no Brasil iniciou o trabalho salvacionista no nordeste do nosso país.
Commissioner Carl Severin Eliasen was born in Rio de Janeiro, the son of Danish missionaries who came to Brazil in the late 1920s. He went to the Cadet College in London. In England he met Maria Aparecida Santos (Mary), who became his wife. He was territorial commander in Brazil, Chile and Secretary for Americas and Caribe at the IHQ in London. Carl S. Eliasen was a pioneer of the work in Portugal and in his management as national leader in Brazil he started the salvationist work in the northeast of our country.

Como o conheci...
How I knew him?
Conheci-o quando foi a Pelotas juntamente com o chefe Gilbert Abadie em um Dia de Juventude, em 1963. Gostei do sotaque português-castelhano de Carl e o imitava para riso de muitos. Em 1964, indo para o Colégio de Cadete no Bosque da Saúde, S.Paulo, lembro-me exatamente o local onde Carl, diretor do Colégio, fez parar o táxi onde eu estava para dar-me boas-vindas. Escrever sobre Carl Eliasen é desenrolar uma extensa fita, pois sempre esteve presente de alguma forma na minha vida. Foi ele quem me enviou à Austrália, em 1982, para um estágio no departamento editorial. Aposentado e viúvo, vive hoje em uma cidade próxima de São Paulo, onde já o visitei.
I met him when he went to Pelotas together with Territorial Commander, Gilbert Abadie on a Youth Councils in 1963. I liked Carl's Portuguese-Spanish accent and imitated him to the laughter of many. In 1964, going to the Training College in S Bosque da Saúde, S.Paulo, I remember exactly the place where Carl, director of the College, stopped the taxi where I was to welcome me. To write about Carl Eliasen is to unroll an extensive tape, as it has always been present in some way in my life. It was he who sent me to Australia, in 1982, to learn editorial techniques at the editorial department. Retired and widower, he now lives in a city close to São Paulo, where I have already visited him.

trabalho realizado no nosso país.
When they said goodbye to Brazil to go to Chile, I made an acrostic with the name of both extolling the great work done in our country.
Em uma das vezes em que fui a Londres, vi no salão nobre do Colégio Internacional de Cadetes,em Denmark Hill, a bandeira da sessão de Carl, "Embaixadores" (1950-1951) e me lembrei de que um dos seus hinos preferidos é o "Sou forasteiro aqui, em terra estranha estou, do reino lá do céus, embaixador eu sou."
In one of the times when I went to London, I saw in the hall of the International Training College, in Denmark Hill, the flag of Carl's session, "Ambassadors" (1950-1951) and I remembered that one of his favorite hymns is "I am an outsider here, in a strange land I am, from the kingdom of heaven, I am an ambassador."
