Quando a gente pensa que já viu tudo na nossa idade, eis que surge uma coisa completamente  nova!

De fato, não me atrai muito pelo anúncio acima na Fellowship Internacional em inglês que frequento, e quase não enfrentei os 20 graus negativos para ir ao culto naquele domingo.  Ficar em casa nos agradáveis 22 graus positivos era uma boa pedida! 

Mas "criei coragem" e fui...  chegando, o Pr. Dave logo me abordou no hall de entrada com uma notícia: no grupo visitante de jogadores de Ice-Hockey há um pessoa ligada ao Exército de Salvação!

Just when we think we've seen everything at our age, something completely new appears!

In fact, I was not very attracted by the advertisement above at the International Christian Fellows hip in English that I attend, and I almost didn't brave the minus 20 degrees to go to the service that Sunday. Staying at home in the pleasant 22 degrees was a good idea.

But I took courage and went... When I arrived Pastor Dave immediately approached me in the entrance hall with some news: in the visiting group of Ice-Hockey players there is someone linked with The Salvation Army!

Uma reunião pela manhã no domingo e outra à noite na quarta-feira,

quando compareceu um jogador cristão da Finlândia, muito respeitada neste esporte, falou a eles.

One meeting in the morning on Sunday and another in the evening on Wednesday, when a Christian player from Finland, very respected in this sport, attended and spoke to them.

A famosa Arena de Ice-Hockey de Hämeenlinna na nossa cidade.

A primeira partida assisti com o amigo gaúcho e sua filhinha.

The first match I attended with my gaucho friend and his little daughter.

No mais, foram partidas de ice-hockey totalmente novas para mim, na foto observando  mas entendendo muito pouco. Tentando associar com partidas de futebol mas constatando que a semelhanca é muito pequena.

Furthermore, they were completely new ice hockey matches for me, in the photo observing but understanding very little. Trying to associate it with football matches but realizing that the similarity is very small.

A velocidade com que patinam no rinque gelado é de impressionar!

Como no futebol, no final os times se cumprimentando.

O time visitante ganhou todas as partidas que jogou!

Like in football, at the end the teams shake hands.

The visiting team won every match they played.

E bonito mesmo, no final os jogadores se ajoelham e oram. E o time adversário, ainda que tenha perdido, acompanha por respeito.

It's really beautiful, at the end the players kneel and pray. And the opposing team, even if they lost, follows out of respect.

Meu amigo Pastor da Igreja Batista da Celebracão, primo do homem de Deus que me trouxe para o ES em 1962, tem uma filha e um genro que trabalham na Universidade Liberty, em Virginia. É a segunda coincidência, sendo a primeira os pais de um dos jogadores sendo majores do ES, como nós!

E uma terceira coincidência é que meu novo amigo faz aniversário no mesmo dia de minha esposa, 22 de marco.

My friend, Pastor of the Celebration Baptist Church, cousin of the man of God who brought me to the Salvation Army in 1962, has a daughter and a son-in-law who work at the Liberty University in Virginia. It's the second coincidence * the first being the parents of one of the players being SA majors, like us!

And the third coincidence is that my new friend has his birthday in the same day of my wife, March 22.

*Godincidences, as my friend's mother, major, now my friend in Facebook, calls.
