An open secret: the English girl got married "through the Gospel Choir", being introduced to a German guy for her Colombian friend.

Um grupo do coral foi cantar na prisão. No grupo, uma judia-americana, uma chinesa e uma jovem da Letônia, que voltando ao seu país escreveu-nos: "Cantar no coral foi a melhor coisa que me aconteceu na Finlândia!"

A group of the choir sang in the prison. In the group a Jewish-American, a Chinese and a girl from Latvia who, returning to her country, said to us: "To sing in the Gospel Choir was the best thing that has happened to me while in Finland!"

A filha de um embaixador que cantou conosco convidou embaixadores, cônsuls e pessoal de embaixadas para esta apresentação.

A daughter of an ambassador, who sang with us, invited ambassadors, consuls and staff from different ambassades to this performance.

Paulo Elias , sobrinho de minha esposa, emprestou sua bela voz ao coral mais do que uma vez. Poucos anos depois, venceu o concurso "X-Factor" da Finlândia.

With his beautiful voice, Paulo Elias, my wife's nephew, sang more than once in our choir. Some years later, he won the "X-Factor" contest in Finland.

Conseguir gente para cantar em um coral aberto significou muitas horas - às vezes caminhando sobre a neve - espalhando cartazes de convite. E adivinhem quem fez isso várias vezes ao ano, por longas horas? O regente do coral...

To get people to sing in an open choir meant to spend many hours - sometimes walking on the snow - spreading out invitation twice a year. Guess who made this job for long hours? The conductor of the choir...

Três calendários do coral foram produzidos.

Graças à talentosa filha Martta, que morava em uma cidade próxima, a country-line dance participou em uma apresentação.

Thanks to our talented daughter Martta, who used to live in a city nearby, the country-line dance was introduced to the choir.

O simpático rapaz mexicano podia não ser o melhor cantor do coral, mas certamente era um grande dançarino! O nigeriano cantou um animado solo.

The friendly Mexican guy was not the best singer in the choir, but certainly he was a great dancer! The Nigerian guy sang an exciting solo.

Dançcando com seu grupo músicas cristãs country foram muito aplaudidas na última apresentação que fizemos antes de nos mudarmos para outra cidade.

"Qual é a cor da pele de Deus?" cantou um grupo de escoteiras-mirins.

"What is the color of God's skin?", sang a group of sunbeans.

Uma grande última apresentaçcão, muita vibração mas um tom de despedida no ar...

A big vibrant last performance, no matter there was a farewell atmosphere around...

Nunca imaginaríamos que Emmanuel, de Camerum, um bom cristão católico-romano, estivesse cantando pela última vez também... Dois meses depois, morreu afogado deixando esposa e duas filhinhas.

We never would imagine that Emmanuel, a good Roman-catholic from Cameroon, was singing for his last time... Two months after the performance, he died in a river in front of his wife and two little daughters.

Sempre feliz, provava ter a chama do Espírito em seu coração.

Always happy, he proved that he had the flame of the Spirit in his heart.

Tobbe, o técnico de som do coral, sempre preparou um CD após cada apresentação, mas como um souvenir aos participantes.

Tobbe, the choir sound technician, always prepared a CD after every performance, as a souvenir to every participant.

Após este pequeno texto, fotos da segunda fase do coral.

After this short text, photos of the second phase of the choir.

Crendo que fotos falam por si, poupo-me de relatar a história mais ampla do International Open Gospel Choir, que teve o seu início em janeiro de 2000 e seu término em novembro de 2008. Foi uma experiência vibrante e inesquecível para muitos que dele participaram ao longo desses anos. Infelizmente, houve uma interrupção que afetou a sua continuação: nossa transferência por dois anos para a costa oeste do país, cidade de Vaasa. Retornando, foi incluído nas minhas atividades o recomeço do coral, o que fiz com muita satisfação. Pela impossibilidade de ensaiar como antes, aos sábados, o que atraía um bom número de pessoas, recomeçamos os ensaios às quintas-feiras, que não provou ser um bom dia para estudantes universitários e mesmo pessoas que trabalham, afetando com isso o número de participantes.

As I think photographs speak more than words, I will refrain from writing a wider story of The International Open Gospel Choir. Along these seven years singing in the choir was for many participants a vibrant and unforgetable experience. Unfortunately there was an interruption that affected its continuation two years later when we returned to the capital Helsinki from Vaasa a city on the the west coast where we had been appointed. Upon our return part of my work was to restart the choir what I did with satisfaction. As it was not possible as before to have choir practises on Saturdays, a day that attracted more people, we began again but on Thursdays a day that proved not to be good for university students and working people affecting the number of choir participants.

Mas estão aí as fotos para nos contarem acerca da vibrante trajetória do coral, que ao recomeçar mudou o nome para blesSINGospel choir. E ao finalizarmos essa trajetória musical, oramos a que nos corações dos que dela participou reverberem as músicas e as letras que cantamos, como uma mensagem eterna às suas vidas.

But here are the photographs that tell the vibrant journey of the choir that restarted as the blesSINGospel choir. As we end this musical journey our prayer is that in the participants hearts the music and words will keep reverberating as an eternal message to their hearts.

O blesSINGospel chegou a cantar por duas vezes em importantes eventos salvacionistas, também em um fino restaurante.

The blesSINGospel sang twice in important salvationist events and in a fancy restaurant as well.

Por ser o Dia dos Pais na Finlândia, tão importante quanto o Dia das Mães, alguns do coral não compareceram, também da platéia. Mas este pai aqui estava feliz e grato ao Pai Celeste pela existência do coral e por ter espalhado tanta bênção através da música por todos esses anos!

It was Fathers' Day in Finland, that is as important as Mothers' day, the reason some of the choir didn't participate, also many people from the audience. No matter that, this father was happy and with lots of gratitude to the Heavenly Father for the existence of the choir and for the musical blessings that it spread all these years.

Com o jovem Timo, hoje pastor, que me ajudou muito no início do coral. "O coral tornou-se menor, mas o entusiasmo e a vibração são os mesmos", comentou.

With young Timo, now a pastor, who helped me so much in the beginning of the choir. "The choir became smaller, but the enthusiasm and the excitement are the same", he commented.

Some were evangelicals, some roman-catholics, muslims, jewish or from other religions or without any religion, but, as it says the last verse of Psalms (150:6)...
